The main objective is to develop the personality of students through community service. Other objectives are –
a) Understanding the community in which they work.
b) Understanding themselves in relation to their community.
c) Identify the needs and problems in the community in solution of which they can be involved.
d) Develop among themselves a sense of social and civil responsibility.
e) Apply their education in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
f) Gain skill in mobilizing community participation.
g) Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
h) Practice national integration.

3. No. of N.S.S. Units:
There are three N.S.S. Units (2 Boys units and 1 Ladies unit). All Units are in +3 stream. The nominal strength of each unit is 50 volunteers.
Who shall be a member?
He /she shall be a student of this institution.
He /she must have the attitude and motive in social and voluntary activities.
He/she shall continue as a student volunteer atleast for 2 years.
He /she should bear a good moral character.
Activities of N.S.S.:-
Two types of camping programmes are undertaken.
a) Normal Camping programmes.
b) Special Camping programmes.
The duration of normal camp is one day of 8 hours. The duration of special camping programme is at least 10 days or as decided by the programme co-ordinator, Utkal University.
A student enrolled in N.C.C. is not allowed to join N.S.S.
The N.S.S. units are managed by 3 Programme Officers. The Principal constitutes the Advisory Committee and convene its meeting at least once in 3 months, monitors the programmes and ensures maimtenances of records and accounts.
The N.S.S. units work under the Programme co-ordinator, N.S.S. Bureau, Utkal University and are governed by the rules of the N.S.S., manual guidelines received from time to time.
